Day trips starting in ELEFSINA HOTEL

Full day excursion to Vilia village on Kitheronas mountain: Vilia are built on the slopes of Kitheronas at an altitude of 600 meters. They are about 30 km away from Elefsina. When you arrive in Vilia, you can visit the Church of the Transfiguration, creation of Ernst Ziller, as well as older Byzantine churches like the one of Saint Athanasius (12th century). From Vilia you can follow one of the many hiking trails to Kitheronas or to take a ride to Porto Germeno with its crystal clear waters and picturesque taverns. In Porto Germeno there are also the ruins of the Fortress of Aigosthena (4th century BC).

Full day excursion to Nafplio: Nafplion, the first capital of Modern Greece, located just an hour and a half from Elefsina. Browse through its narrow streets with the beautiful houses of the old town. You can visit the Palamidi Fortress, which towers over the city, have lunch in one of the taverns in the city, and finish your tour sipping a glass of wine at one of the cafés overlooking the isle of Bourtzi.

Porto Germeno: Porto Germeno is located 40 km from Elefsina. It is a small seaside village with several large and small beaches surrounded by the high mountains of Pateras and Kitheronas. There is also the ancient castle of Aigosthena built in the 4th century BC. If you prefer tranquility, make your visit on weekdays and a weekend crowded with bathers. After enjoying the clean sea, you can choose one of the many taverns or head to Vilia, located 15 km from the beach, traditional snacks under the trees.

Psatha: Psatha is one of the longest beaches in Attica with a length of 2.5 km. As it is the favorite spot of the Athenians thanks to its easy access from the National Highway Athens-Corinth, it becomes a real attraction on summer weekends, with people enjoying cool cocktails and music from the bars. Very close to Psatha lies Alepochori beach and the Schinos area with many small beaches. Psatha can be easily reached through the old highway Athens-Thiva, through the cool pine forest of Pateras Mountain. The distance from Elefsina is about 40 km.
